Biography of Korin Black
Chicago native Korin Black [www.korinblack.com] is a runway fashion model, artist, entrepreneur and executive director of her foundation The Korin Black Project.

Raised in a small home that consisted of her younger brother, mother and grandparents, Korin led a relatively normal early life. She attended Maria High School, an all-girl catholic school located on the south side of Chicago. Korin was very active in high school and graduated with a 3.9 GPA. Her academic excellence and dedication to her studies, eventually led to her being offered scholarships and grants to attend Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She graduated from Bradley with a B.A. in Advertising and Multi-Media.

At the age of 15 she was scouted a number of times by modeling schools, including Barbizon, with the proposal of a modeling career. Korin developed early aspirations to enter the modeling field, but education was more important to her and her family. As such, they were not fond of the idea of Korin taking her attention from schooling. Being mature in her decisions, she decided to stay focused on her academic achievements.

While a freshman in college, the aspiration to model resurfaced when she was approached again with the prospect of modeling. This time, it was from her photography teacher. He was shooting for a local publication called the “Naperville Magazine”. Korin was asked to be a model for their fall fashion section. At the age of 18, this officially launched her modeling career.

Korin always knew that the talents she possessed were different from the average person. She had developed a sense of style at an early age and always stood out in a crowd. Polite, charismatic and a quick learner, Korin fit perfectly into the model mode. Thinking back to times when she wondered why she was so tall and thin; and why she could maneuver her body in such awkward positions that no one else could, would soon become clear.

In the fall of 2007/2008, it became evident to her that modeling was her calling. Instead of running from her destiny any longer, she decided to embrace her abilities. She began to concentrate more time on her modeling career. Korin has worked photo-shoots such as the Darfur Project; modeling couture pieces, designer Abigail Glaum-Lathbury, UK shoe designer sensation Rohan Clarke, and was also featured on the front cover of Salon News USA September-October 2008. She has worked runway shows such as Chicago Fashion Focus 2009, Saks Fifth Ave, and Splendor Magazine (choreographed runway show) for Chicago’s Spring Fashion Week 2008. Korin was signed to top model agency Elite Model Management (Chicago Runway Division) in January 2009. In October 2009, she opted to go with the independent management company ACM PR, LLC in order to further her career.

Korin Black’s small, yet healthy frame and runway height of 5'10 inches classifies her as a high fashion/couture model and her fondness for the catwalk reflects this. Her high cheek bones and distinctive facial structure also is ideal for the beauty and glamour industry.

Not just a pretty face, Korin Black is a serious business woman who runs the graphic design company Korley INK [www.korleyink.com], fashion designer, artist, and aspiring actress/singer with philanthropic goals to help young women overcome their fears of accomplishment through her foundation The Korin Black Project [www.korinblackproject.org].
